Villa Halcyon is designed to provide a tranquil retreat from life’s storms in a tropical paradise setting. Although only 2 kilometers away from the town of Puerto Galera, it is a private property accessible only by boat or helicopter. Halcyon means kingfisher in ancient Greek and the quiet days spent brooding their eggs led to the English expression "Halcyon Days". Beautiful, darting kingfishers nest in our nearby mangrove forest and provide occasional flashes of their wonderful colours.
There are 4 principal features to the Villa:
- The multi-purpose pier has an octagon helipad, a sunken dining table for BBQ's under the stars, sunbathing lounges, a pontoon for boats, a ladder for swimming and snorkelling in the beautiful coral gardens full of tropical fish directly in front.
- The pool area includes an infinity pool, a small beach, an open-air dining area, kitchen, BBQ, a Zen pond with cascade background, a small fitness centre and a boatshed for scuba/snorkelling/boating/beach equipment.
- The main house is a large Thai-style thatched building with elegant curving gables, mostly without walls. There is a living room, a dining room, a bar, a kitchen and an Al Fresco dining area with an adjoining flower and vegetable garden. Below the living and dining rooms are the Filipino and Chinese guest rooms, respectively, while a kids/teens loft lies above the dining room. The upper level also contains an office.
- A short distance from the main house, the Cabana contains 3 other bedrooms sharing a common bathroom.
- GYM: Stay fit and healthy in the small fitness center near poolside. It contains mechanical, not electrical equipment such as an incline bench press, a full BowFlex all in one system, a cable/pulley system for tricep push-downs, crossovers etc, free weights. Also we have an upright row system, good for your upper back, along with several other leg machines. There are many different sized dumbbells and weights, so you can select according to your level. There’s even boxing mitts and pads should you want to have a vigorous workout!
